Semi Final
Royal Adelaide 1 lost to Glenelg 4
Sunday 2nd July at The Grange Golf Club (East)
Report courtesy of Didy McLaurin and Sue Pentelow
The Pike girls took on Glenelg again in their Semi Final at The Grange. We were still missing Eliza to the Sanderson girls but with Laura Birchmore back in the team playing in number 1 position and in good golfing conditions we were ready to reverse the out come of the previous week against Glenelg.
Again we were steady out of the starting blocks but Glenelg were not going to give anything away. At the turn Laura was 3 down, Megan 2 down, Juliet 1 up Anne 2 down and Sally 3 down.
The Glenelg players again proved too strong for our girls. Sally played well as did Anne. They may not have been happy with the score but they should be proud they took their opponents as far as they did.
Juliet as usual didn’t give up. Laura and Megan were coming home well, both up by one, but unfortunately for us Glenelg by this time had won three games giving them the match 4 – 1.
We have had a great season and are looking forward to next year. A big thank you to the girls who were asked to fill in for us from other teams and to our reserves and caddies. Thank you coaching staff for the excellent training throughout the season.
Round 5
Royal Adelaide 0 lost to Glenelg 5
Sunday 25th June at Sandy Creek Golf Club
Report courtesy of Didy McLaurin and Sue Pentelow
It was always going to be a tough day at the office for the Pikers with losing our top two players to the Sanderson Team and playing against a very competitive Glenelg side at Sandy Creek in very cold windy conditions.
The girls fought hard holding their own at the half way mark.
Rachel Sweeney at number three played steady golf taking her opponent to the 17th- just going down 2/1. Sally Nobbs played well, losing 3/2.
The surprise young gun recruit for Glenelg, Elysia Yap, had the task of taking on our seasoned player Juliet Hugo, with Elysia winning the battle on the 16th.
In the end, Glenelg proved too strong on the day winning 5–0.
We look forward to taking them on again next week in the semi final at Grange where we hope to reverse the outcome.

Sunday 4th June at Kooyonga Golf Club
Report courtesy of Didy McLaurin and Sue Pentelow
The Pike girls played The Grange at Kooyonga on Sunday 4th June in cool calm conditions. We had a good steady start to the game finding ourselves 4.5 matches up by the 6th.
Sally Nobbs and Megan Bleeze made it look easy playing lovely golf winning 6/5 and 7/5.
Juliet had a good steady game for most of the match but it just got away from her in the end going down by 1.
With game poised at 2 – 1 and Laura 1 up after the 17th, the tension was building. Could she hold on?
With a wayward drive and a difficult lie, her second shot landed in the right fairway bunker, 100 metres to the green. It wasn’t looking good, but we shouldn’t have doubted Laura. Her bunker shot landed on the green and she putted to win her game 2 up giving Royal Adelaide the win.
Meanwhile Eliza was having a steady game all day, battling it out with her opponent but finding herself 2 down on the 15th. With her quiet steady determination she worked her way back into the game ending up all square on the 18th giving us a 3.5 – 1.5 win.
A very exciting finish (almost too much for the manager) with a great result.
Well done Pikers. Let’s see if we can do it again, against Mid North at home on the 18th June.

Sunday 28th May at Glenelg Golf Club
Report courtesy of Didy McLaurin and Sue Pentelow
The Pike Cup girls played against Kooyonga at Glenelg on Sunday.
Unfortunately the Pike Cup girls did not have a great day.
With a delayed start due to heavy rain, we had our fingers crossed for improved weather so the girls could play their best golf.
We tried our hardest to the end but Kooyonga proved to be too strong on the day defeating us 5 – 0.
We will come out fighting next week against Grange at Kooyonga.

Sunday 21st May at Tea Tree Gully Golf Club
Report courtesy of Didy McLaurin and Sue Pentelow
A great start to the season for the Pike girls, winning their first match 4 – 1 against Tea Tree Gully at Tea Tree Gully in rather drizzly weather.
The girls came out blazing with Kat, Eliza and Juliet well up by the eighth hole.
Kat continued her good steady form and solid putting to win 6/5.
Juliet was thankful for Matt’s hole 17a training last week enabling her to master the similar conditions at TTG to win 5/4.
Megan and Eliza played steady golf winning 2 up and 4/2.
Laura held her own but beaten by a steady opponent at the end, losing by one.
Well done girls. We play Kooyonga next week at Glenelg.
