The Pink concert commenced early as Royal Adelaide was a sea of pink as 144 took to the course for the Women’s Opening Day Cross Country Pink Tee event. We were very honoured to welcome Her Excellency, the Honourable Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia to lunch and were delighted to have her play in the event as well.
Once again players were called upon to use their nous and life experience to navigate the tricky course. Compasses were the second most requested item of the day, gin being number one.
A big thank you to Caitlin Peirce who was the Guest Speaker at the event.
Head of Women’s Golf, Di Tallis spoke of the upcoming season and presented awards for those that were unable to attend last year’s Presentation Day and the very special Alison Douglas Memorial Trophy for good fellowship in the club was awarded to the very deserving Jane Flentje.
Congratulations to the winning team on the MacKenzie course of Mary Lou Simpson, Sue Clarke, Mary Eriksen and Sue Ball who prevailed with 21.5 nett by .25 of a shot for Di Tallis, Her Excellency, Caitlin Peirce and Joan Lyons.
On the Thomson course it was Di Moore, Vicki Jordan, Ingrid Coats and Mary Sutherland in great form winning the event with 19.75 nett. Pip Darby, Sharyn Booth, Ana Koch and Susie Herzberg also combined very well to be Runners up with 20.875 nett.
A special congratulations to Sue Barry who had a Hole In One on Hole O (Left side of 15th fairway to 16th green).
