Mary Cudmore Bowl – Wednesday 5th & Thursday 6th March

Early March usually results in beautiful weather – and this week was no exception as the Royal Adelaide team headed for Naracoorte. Our team – Dimity Thwaites, Cathy Sanders, Alex Maddern, Tina Hayward, Julia Timbs and Louise Walters headed south.  After a short detour following a truck rollover on the Dukes Highway we arrived at Naracoorte in time for the welcoming drinks and canapes – prepared by the volunteer ladies at the club.  The first day of competition was, for most of us – a research venture, as we failed to feature in the daily prizes, with the exception of Alex Maddern who tied for second in the B grade.  A little bit of luck saw Dimity Thwaites win the raffle as there was no nearest the pin contender for B grade.

A cooler, cloudy morning greeted the field on Thursday morning and the course was looking in very good condition given the lack of rain.  Once again, the scoring was not high across the board, although we faired a little better than the day before with Cathy Sanders winning the C grade longest drive, and Louise Walters winning C grade with 38 points.  Alex  Maddern was again consistent with 34 points but it wasn’t enough for the team to feature.

The Mary Cudmore Bowl went to Blue Lake Golf Club in Mount Gambier with South Lakes runner up.
