Royal Adelaide Wins Cudmore Challenge Cup – Sunday 19th January

Royal Adelaide successfully defended the Cudmore Challenge Cup on home turf against Kooyonga in a hard fought 5-4 win in very hot conditions. The match is always a good lead in to the Pennant season. Congratulations to the team on their effort.

History:
The trophy was presented by Mrs Kathleen I Cudmore in 1926.

Originally, the idea was for the cup to be used for a pennant trophy, at that time apart from RAGC and Kooyonga, no other metropolitan clubs had sufficient playing Associates, thus the Cudmore Challenge between RAGC and Kooyonga was born. Once established it continued as such, even after pennant was introduced.

Mrs K I (Kathleen Ismay) Cudmore, who was formerly Mrs Daniel Cudmore before her divorce, was born in 1886 and died in 1958.

• Honorary Life Member 1952   (One of the original three – Mesdames K I Cudmore, H L Rymill, and Miss Ethel Wyatt)
• Mrs Cudmore was the co-founder of the S.A.L.G.U. – she held the position of Vice-President with Mrs H L Rymill as President and Miss Wyatt as Secretary.
• Mrs Cudmore was the first Associate of the RAGC to break 100.
