What a day of matches at the Club Championships. The match looked in Anne’s grasp with her holding the lead 2 up with two to play but Mirrie is nothing if not tenacious winning the 17th hole and then the 18th with a birdie to send the match to extra holes. With the 19th and 20th holes halved Anne sealed the inaugural Senior Championship on the 21st hole.

The Women’s B Grade Championship final will be contested on Sunday between the Ali’s, Ali White and Ali Coventry. Another glorious day on the links produced a siren call to the Women’s Seniors Semi Finals and Women’s B Grade Quarter Finals matches. In the other half of the B Grade draw Di Moore was too strong for Amanda Warden winning the match 7/6. The other Quarter final match was a marathon as defending B Grade champion Ali Coventry and Toffee Perkins waded though a big gallery on the 1st tee after the match was squared on the 18th, it took Ali to the 20th hole to shake off a determined Toffee and keep the dream of defending her championship alive.

Introduction of Women’s A Grade Senior Championship

New for 2024, the Women’s A Grade Senior Championship has been added and will be played under the following format:

  • Two scratch strokeplay qualifying rounds played in conjunction with the Women’s B and C grade qualifying on two Tuesdays during the Championships.
  • The top 4 players to progress to scratch Matchplay.
  • Semi-final to be played on the Thursday of Championship week in conjunction with the Women’s B and C grade quarter finals.
  • Final to be played on the Friday of Championship week in conjunction with the Women’s B and C grade semi-finals.
  • Standard women’s A grade handicap limit to apply.
  • Women who are 55 years and older (within the women’s A grade handicap limit) are eligible.

The inclusion of the Women’s A Grade Seniors Championship would provide the following benefits to competitors:

  • Provide an A grade Championship option for those players that historically competed in the Club Championship when it was played mid-week.
  • The format would allow for players to compete in both the Women’s A Grade Senior’s Championship and the Women’s Club Championship should they wish.
