WOMEN’S FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIP WINNERS – RAEGAN DENTON AND BEKKY STUTLEY

The Women’s A Grade Foursomes was won by Raegan Denton and Bekky Stutley, defeating Laura Birchmore and Eliza Bartlett. Raegan and Bekky jumped out to a 3 up lead after three holes, Laura and Eliza closed the gap to 2 up but that was as close as they would get, a birdie on 15th saw Raegan and Bekky 3 up with three to play and they clinched the match on the 16th hole.

Congratulations also to Deb Wallman and Sue Minson on winning the Foursomes Veterans Trophy and also the A Grade Best Nett Qualifier.

The Women’s Foursomes Championships Semi Finals were played on Sunday. In the first semi final it was a case of David v Goliath as Raegan Denton and Bekky Stutley played Sue Minson and Deb Wallman, there was no fairy tale to be had as despite trying their best Raegan and Bekky were too strong winning 8&7.

In the second semi final it was a had fought match with Laura Birchmore and Eliza Bartlett prevailing over Pauline and Fiona Morrison 3&2.

The A Grade Women’s Foursomes Championships were completed in drizzly conditions with the 2023 Women’s A Grade Championship, Raegan Denton, and Women’s A Grade Championship Runner Up, Bekky Stutley, joining forces to take out the best qualifier in A Grade with a 76 Gross, 5 shots clear from second qualifiers, Eliza Bartlett and Laura Birchmore on 81. The mother daughter combination of Pauline and Fiona Morrison qualified in third and surprise packet of A Grade was Deb Wallman and Sue Minson who combined very well to take out the best net with 73 and also the Veteran’s Trophy.

The A Grade Semi finals will take place on Sunday 18th August at approximately 8.00am with the final to follow commencing at approximately 11.30am – midday. Presentations will take place at the conclusion of the final match.

In a hard fought match Jenny and Denise emerged victorious with a 3&2 win over Vicki and Trish.

The Women’s C Grade Foursomes finalists were Heather Jenkins and Marg Wilkinson coming up against number one qualifiers Sue Kent and Angela Stuart.

The number one qualifiers looked good in the early holes but Heather and Marg quickly reigned them and once in front they didn’t relinquish the lead winning the C Grade Foursomes Championship 5&3.

In the Foursomes Higher Handicap Plate Sarah Ayres and Tracy Leaney played Sue Harvey and Toni Chaplin.

Sarah and Tracy played some fantastic golf to take out the Foursomes Higher Handicap Plate final 7&5. Which brings us to a very important side note, Tracy now has her name on more silverware at RAGC than husband Stephen.
