Semi Final

Royal Adelaide 4.5 defeated Glenelg 0.5

Sunday 7th July at Kooyonga Golf Club

It was a crisp morning, no rain, lots of swirling wind.

The finals certainly have a different feeling, we were prepared for the battle.

Raegan returned from her whirlwind trip to Wisconsin were she represented Australia in a junior teams event. Six girls and six boys playing a “Ryder Cup” type event against 12 USA juniors. Fortunately Raegan has no difficulty sleeping on planes jumping off the plane in excellent form. Raegan dominated from the start in her match against Zoe Manton winning 6/5.

Sophie never looked in doubt against Bekky Hardy winning 5/4. Solid as always.

Bekky had a bit more of a tussle against the “well seasoned” Jill Hodge but ended up with a convincing 4/3 win.

Katie had her match in the bag. She was 2 up with 2 to play when we declared victory.

Alice put on a fine performance for her Mum who is here from South Korea at present. Alice lead from the start and never looked back with a 6/5 win.

So yes, a pretty impressive performance but the big one is this week.

Another plea for members to come out and support our girls.

At The Grange on Sunday 14th July 1st tee 11.15am against Kooyonga.

Our players this week will be wearing navy blue RAGC caps to distinguish us from Kooyonga players.

See you all on Sunday.

Round 5

Royal Adelaide 1 lost to Kooyonga 4

Sunday 30th June at Glenelg Golf Club

Report courtesy of Vicki Jordan

Yet another chilly morning but fortunately no rain, it was a tough day at the office. It was our first tough day for the season and a handy reminder of how tough it is to go all the way. We played at Glenelg over 16 holes only, due to course renovations.

With Raegan in Stevens Point, Wisconsin USA playing in an Australian Junior team we welcomed Isabelle Watson into the team from the Sharp Cup team. Isabelle fought hard all day but went down to the ever consistent Lyn McGough.

Alice Cho and Jamie Hards had a tussle all day with Alice being square at 14 but going down by 1.

Katie Seol, never down all day taking care of her opponent 3/2. Well done Katie.

Bekky Stutley, again a fighter. Could have gone either way. Lost 2 down.

Sophie Hilditch played some excellent golf, sinking some very long putts but went down 2/1 despite being unwell. A close encounter that has fuelled us for the finals.

Thank you for the fabulous support from the Simpson Cup team who stayed to support the girls and more and more Roadies appearing each week. Your support makes a huge difference.

Round 4

Royal Adelaide 5 defeated The Grange 0

Sunday 23rd June at Royal Adelaide Golf Club

Report courtesy of Vicki Jordan

Another freezing winter’s morning. Heavy frost on the ground. 6°C.

Hot muffins and fruit attempted to warm the players.

It was our first round in the absence of Caitlin Peirce and another 5 – 0 win, this time against the team sitting second on the ladder, The Grange.

Raegan Denton slipped into number 1 and fought hard all day against Jin-Young Yun never letting Jin get more than 2 ahead. Raegan pounced on the 15th to square the match, won the 16th, halved the 17th and won the 18th ending in a 2 up win.

Our Captain Sophie Hilditch, playing at 2, was solid all day 1 up after 6 and ending up with a 3/1 win.

Bekky Stutley playing at 3, with Tony Christie on the bag for the first time had a lovely 5/3 win.

Katie Seol, birthday girl, moved up to play at 4 and had a closer match with a 2/1 win.

We welcomed back to the team from the Sharp Cup team Alice Cho who trounced her opponent 7/5.

We are going to continue to build. Heads down.

Final minor round next week at Glenelg against Kooyonga.

Many thanks to all those that ventured out in freezing conditions to support our teams on Sunday. The support makes a huge difference.

Round 3

Royal Adelaide 5 defeated Glenelg 0

Sunday 16th June at South Lakes Golf Club

Report courtesy of Vicki Jordan

A chilly but sunny morning welcomed us to South Lakes, Goolwa. 6°C; sunny; no wind; pretty perfect. All players recorded resounding wins.

The team are sitting on top of the ladder but not getting carried away with two of the hardest matches still to come, Grange at home this weekend followed by Kooyonga at Glenelg.

The team said farewell to Caitlin Peirce who is off to the US of A to follow her golfing dreams.

Despite Sunday’s match being at South Lakes, Goolwa, we had terrific support by members and Ali White, the Head of Women’s Golf.

Looking forward to seeing as many RAGC members as possible at RAGC this weekend.

Royal Roadies, off the couch, don your RAGC cap and come out and support our A1 teams at RAGC.

Great start. Perfect weather.

Late withdrawal by Raegan Denton due to ill health meant late change to team with Alice Cho being elevated from Sharp Cup to 5th spot in A1s.

Lots of supporters which makes a huge difference. Many thanks to those that came.

All played well. Bekky Stutley had to eagle the 13th to win the hole.

Bring on next week.
