Sophie Hamdorf and Raegan Denton were recently acknowledged at the South Australian Golf Industry Awards Night.
Sophie was named South Australia Golf Course Graduate of the Year while Raegan won the SA Girls’ Vardon Trophy for the second year in a row.
Trophies presented as part of the SA Golf Industry Awards Night include industry specific awards from Golf Australia, PGA of Australia, Golf Management Australia and Turf Management South Australia.

SOUTH AUSTRALIAN GOLF COURSE GRADUATE OF THE YEAR
Congratulations to Sophie Hamdorf who was named the South Australian Golf Course Graduate of the Year. The award is in recognition of Sophie’s commitment and hard work throughout her time as an apprentice at Royal Adelaide.
Sophie was our first full-time female employee of on course staff when she was hired in 2019 as an apprentice greenkeeper. She graduated as a fully qualified greenkeeper in November 2022.

RAEGAN DENTON
SA GIRLS’ VARDON TROPHY WINNER
The 2023 Girls’ Vardon Trophy (Order of Merit) was played over the 12 months from 1st November 2022 to 31st October 2023 with rankings determined by totalling the points gained from each player’s best results in a third (5) of the OOM events.
Raegan backed up her breakout year in 2022 with a solid 2023, including her first Royal Adelaide Women’s Club Championship.
In the SA Girls’ Vardon Trophy, Raegan finished on 694 points, 111 points ahead of her 2022 tally and ten points ahead of fellow Royal Adelaide member Imogen Jessen. Raegan won six SA Girls’ Vardon Trophy events:
- SA Junior Open (2)
- SA Junior Girls’ Amateur
- SA Junior Open (3)
- Tea Tree Gully Vardon
- Flagstaff Hill Vardon
- Royal Adelaide Vardon
Her other results included a tie for second, two thirds and a fifth. Well done Raegan!
