The finals of the 2023 Men’s Aged Club Championship events were played on Sunday 20th August. Congratulations to all winners.
SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP
Open to male members aged 55+
Defending Champion: Steven Copley
The Men’s Seniors Championship was first presented by C. G. Wilson in 1988.
The winner of the 2023 Men’s Seniors Championship was Ian Rice with a 1 up victory over Tim Nielsen on the 19th hole.
Ian won his was through to the final following his extra holes victory over defending champion, Steven Copley, on the 20th hole. in the other semi final, Tim defeated Terry Thornton 2/1.
SENIOR PLATE
Open to male members aged 55+
Defending Champion: Tom Warhurst
The Men’s Seniors Plate event was first presented in 2015.
The winner of the 2023 Men’s Seniors Plate was James Bennett who defeated Graham Vasileff on the 18th hole, 1 up.
VETERANS CHAMPIONSHIP
Open to male members aged 65+
Defending Champion: Leigh Carpenter
The Men’s Veterans Championship has been played since 2004, with the winner awarded the President v Captain Trophy, formerly played from 1980–2000.
The 2023 Men’s Veterans Champion was Richard Huebl who defeated Bill Jeffries on the 17th hole, 2/1.
Richard charged his way through to the final by defeating Julian Hicks 5/4. Bill had a closer match against leading qualifier, Randall Faull, winning 1 up on the final hole.
VETERANS PLATE
Open to male members aged 65+
Defending Champion: Geoff Thompson
The Men’s Veterans Plate event was first presented in 2015.
The winner of the 2023 Men’s Veterans Plate was Orso Osti with a 3/1 win over Peter James.
SUPER VETERANS CHAMPIONSHIP
Open to male members aged 75+
Defending Champion: David Cherry
The Men’s Super Veterans Championship was introduced in 2018.
The winner of the 2023 Men’s Super Veterans Championship was Leigh Carpenter who defeated 2022 runner up, Michael Nelson, in the final 2/1. Leigh’s victory backed up his Veterans Championship win in 2022.
Leigh had a close match in his semi final, defeating Greg Chappell 3/1 while in the other semi final, David Cherry withdrew with illness, for Michael to progress to the final.
SUPER VETERANS PLATE
Open to male members aged 75+
Defending Champion: David Smith
The Men’s Super Veterans Plate was also introduced in 2018.
The winner of the 2023 Men’s Super Veterans Plate was Kym Perks with a 3/2 win over Bronte Hockley.

The format for the 2023 Men’s Aged Championships will be as follows:
SENIORS: Aged 55 or over as at 12th August 2023
VETERANS: Aged 65 or over as at 12th August 2023. Veterans can elect to play in the Senior Championships instead but need to do so before starting the event.
SUPER VETERANS: Aged 75 or over as at 12th August 2023. Super Veterans can elect to play in Seniors or Veterans Championships instead but need to do so before starting the event.
ELIGIBILITY: All male Category 1, Interstate, Overseas, Country, Veteran (25), Veteran (50) members who satisfy the age requirements as above.
FORMAT
All play from the white tees.
SENIORS, VETERANS AND SUPER VETERANS CHAMPIONSHIPS
18 holes stroke play (gross) qualifying on Saturday 12th August. Top 4 gross scores from each age bracket to qualify for match play. Super Veteran qualifying numbers to be determined depending on entrant numbers.
All ties for qualifying positions will be decided by countback.
SENIORS, VETERANS AND SUPER VETERANS PLATES
18 holes stroke play (net) qualifying on Saturday 12th August. Top 2 net scores from each age bracket (excluding Championship qualifiers) to qualify for match play.

Alternate to Stroke and Distance local rule: Please note that the Alternate to Stroke and Distance local rule is not in play for this event (inclusive of both stroke and match play rounds).
