LUNCH TALK (FORMERLY WOMEN & VETERAN WOMENS LUNCH) – GUEST SPEAKER MARY LOU SIMPSON O.A.M.

On Monday, Mary Lou Simpson O.A.M. shared her extensive knowledge of Ediacaran fossils with nearly 50 members and guests at the newly renamed RAGC Lunch talk (formerly the Women and Veteran Womens’ Lunch).

As founder and chair of the Flinders Ranges Ediacara Foundation, Mary Lou has had a strong interest in the Nilpena Ediacara fossil beds since 2004 and she talked about the global significance of the fossils for scientific research, education, and ecotourism.

Guests were lucky enough to view a fossil sample at the lunch which was over 500 million years old!

The talk included a two course lunch which was enjoyed by all.

Our next installment of the RAGC talks will be on Thursday evening 15th September when Peter Maddern will talk about his book on Sir Hubert Wilkins, explorer and photographer.
